Enrico's gigs W/C 2/5/11.

Tues 3/5. Deerhoof. Club Academy, M/c.
Everyone's favourite avante garde pop band with the Japanese singer, childlike vocals and gnarly Beefheartian breakdowns. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Wed 4/5. Secret Sisters. The Ruby Lounge, M/c.
Jools Holland style female country music duo currently impressing everyone who listens to Bob Harris.

Thurs. 5/5. Psychadelic Horseshit plus Ghost Outfit, Waiters, and Sex Hands. Deaf Institute, M/c.
More shitgaze from the States (thyat means poppy underground stuff buried in muck and noise) with bands from the cream of the Manchester scene slightly curdled.

Fri 6/5. Jane Weaver. The Nordic Church, Liverpool.
Anyone who saw Jane's astonishingly good psych-folk set in Presto last week will be ditching their Bill Callahan tickets and getting on to this. The venus is in L1 and it's a 10pm finish so you nshould be able to make it back to the train.

Sat 7/5. Hibernate All Dayer. Kraak Gallery, M/c.
Great promoters MIE music collaborate with ;ocal label Hibernate for a day fukll of ambiant soundscapes from a plethora of artistas including Stephen Mathieu, Danny Saul, TSU, BJ Nilsen and Simon Scott. Starts at 2pm..

Sun 8/5. Them Beatles. Debees Music Bar, Winsford.
Enrico likes 'em. Why would we argue? Beatles tribute but funny with it.

Mon 9/5. Villagers. 53 Degrees, Presto.
Best gig at this venue for some time. Excellent Mercury Musuc Prize nominated Irish folk poppers on Domino. Recently supported Elbow.

***Good news/bad news for Rebellion fest ticket holders: Adam Ant has cancelled  but Penny Rimbaud from Crass and various associates (inc Crass graphics bod Gee Vaucher) have been recently confirmed for an avante garde jazz set! Penny is on drums, not vocals.

Usual Places, Unusual T Shirts.

Following on from my last set of photographs, Usual Plants, Unusual Places, the newest collection is Usual Places, Unusual T Shirts.
As you might imagine, it is my vast collection of T shirts, many supplied by Steven Barker from China, photographed in front of various Darwen landmarks like the Job Centre, Homeless Hostel, Health Centre etc.
They can bee seen downstairs at the Visitors' Centre in Sunnyhurst Woods in Darwen, Lancs until the 18th December 2010.
Opening times are afternoons only on Thursdays, Fridays and weekends.
You could take a nice stroll through the Woods, have a sken at my pictures and then have a nice ice cream or a brew in the Old England Kiosk situated next door.
Sounds like a proper half day out!
The next part of this trilogy of madness will be Usual Places, Usual Faces. That will be photos of Darweners in situ. That might be in front of their favourite cafe, or various stall holders on the market and that kinda thang.
